FOUNDER

Bishop Horace E. Hockett

Realizing the powerful influence of television and theater, Pastor Horace E. Hockett founded the Living Parables Ministry, the drama outreach of the church, which he envisions as a major evangelistic vehicle.

“Presenting the truth of the gospel in the form of a play is a relevant but non-threatening means of reaching those who might not know Christ”, he says.  “They not only hear the Word, but they also “see” and “feel” the power and influence of the Word, and of course, we always give them the opportunity to receive salvation.”

The Living Parables Drama Ministry, one of the four foundational pillars of Born Again Church, was birthed out of Pastor Hockett’s vision to evangelize through drama.

Since that time, drama has been a central element in ministering the Word of God at Born Again, and a unique and effective form of outreach.  Living Parables is known for consistently producing plays and creative presentations of artistic and technical excellence, instructing, glorifying God and dramatizing the Gospel of Jesus Christ locally, nationally, and internationally.

Operating on this foundational scripture from 1 Corinthians 9:22:  “I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some by winning them to faith in Jesus Christ,”  In 2018, Living Parables opened the Northside Theatrical Conservatory for students ages 10-17.  The school's mission statement is "To teach artistic leaders Godly character." In the future, Living Parables envisions expanding into Christian film and video production.
